Kristin MacDonald
Patient Partner
After developing septic shock after a bowel puncture that occurred during gall bladder removal surgery in 2016, Kristin became motivated by her own experience to help other sepsis patients and their caregivers navigate the post-sepsis recovery processes. Her medical journal has been complicated by the long-term side effects of sepsis, and despite consultation with many specialists, many of her post-sepsis symptoms remain unresolved or undiagnosed. Since 2012, Kristin is the managing editor of Applied Spectroscopy, a peer-reviewed journal of the Society for Applied Spectroscopy. She also runs the Facebook group, Canada Sepsis, Septic Shock, and Post-Sepsis Syndrome Resources, when time allows, as well as Gastronomic History, a food history feed on Twitter.
